I love making furniture out of whisky barrels and wine barrels. For instance, the DIY Whisky Barrel Coffee Table and the DIY Wine Barrel Shelf with a Push Pin Travel Map are two projects I made last year.
AÂ question I've been getting is if there is anything a DIY'er can make to look like parts of a barrel since they are expensive and not easy to find.
Thus, the idea for a tutorial on how to build a whisky barrel / wine barrel top was born. This DIY Whisky Barrel Lazy Susan is super easy and affordable to make. I did use oak which was more expensive then pine, but I was happy with my decision. Since barrels are typically made out of oak I wanted this barrel top to look just like the real thing.
A few photos are shown of the finished project in this post. The complete tutorial can be found over at Ryobi Nation. I'm going to be doing a number of fun projects this year in collaboration with Ryobi Nation and am very excited about it. They have a ton of ideas and how to's on their site and I'd recommend checking it out when you need some more DIY inspiration!
This project is made out of 1×4 and 1×3 boards, along with a small piece of plywood and a lazy susan.
Making a circle to look like a whisky barrel top.
Using a Kreg Jig to attach the boards
Using a jigsaw to cut out the shape of the barrel top.
A router is used to bevel the edges.
A lazy susan and wood base are added.
